Humanitarian Sector Survey

ASPECT researchers launch a survey to explore understanding, potential use, and improvements for a climate information prototype for the humanitarian, development, and adaptation planning sector sector.

The humanitarian sector supports vulnerable populations before, during and after crises. Extreme weather events like droughts and floods increase the need for humanitarian action, as they can affect the livelihoods of already vulnerable regions, increase food insecurity, and worsen health and nutrition conditions. In this context, integrating climate information into humanitarian planning can support preparedness and anticipatory action by helping organisations identify climate-related risks before they occur and take early measures to reduce their impacts, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and adaptation planning.

For this purpose, climate scientists at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) have co-developed together with users a short bulletin with climate information designed for the humanitarian sector.

Help us test our bulletin!

To test and improve the climate information bulletin, we have designed a survey that allows you to become familiar with the bulletin and its different aspects, and provide feedback.

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is directed to professionals working in the humanitarian, development, and adaptation planning sector, and who have either used or could potentially use climate information.

We would like to hear your perceptions and opinions of this bulletin, including your perceived usability and any suggested improvement.

The results from this survey will help inform climate prediction research which, in the future, could lead to an operationalised service. By dedicating your time to this, you will help shape the future generation of climate services that your organisation and sector could benefit from.
